Cesar Montano's Son, Carlos Diego Loyzaga Enters 'Mara Clara!'

The 15-year old son of the actor Mr. Cesar Montano and the actress Ms. Teressa Loyzaga already signed a three-year contract with ABS-CBN. And his very first project is the top-rating TV series"Mara Clara"!

Carlos Diego Loyzaga will join this hit teleserye. He will be an additional character and the new love interest of Clara (Julia Montes).

Rumors spread that Diego will replace Clara's love interest Eris (John Manalo) because of his height. This said issue was further confirmed by the upcoming Julia Montes-Kathryn Bernardo movie wherein John Manalo is not part of the cast. Even when asked what Julia’s reaction when they met, Diego joked, “She was happy that I’m taller” since Julia is taller than her current love interest John.

But some sources say that Diego will reprise the character of Derrick, the former role of the late Rico Yan. Therefore, he will be putted first as a love triangle to Mara and Christian (Albie Casiño) before pairing to Clara!

But whatever the issue, Diego is very happy to enter showbiz and to be part of the top-rating "Mara Clara". According to him, his contract with ABS-CBN is terrific! “Terrific po, it feels really good po. I feel very welcome po, (people are) so nice and kind to me po and I’m very happy here po,” Diego gladly shared!

While now a newbie showbiz personality, Diego is still continuing his studies!

Kathryn Bernardo is looking forward to becoming friends with newcomer Carlos Diego Loyzaga

Kathryn Bernardo was surprised when she learned recently that Carlos Diego Loyzaga, the son of Cesar Montano and Teresa Loyzaga, recently signed a contract with ABS-CBN and is reportedly joining Mara Clara. The young actress revealed that she and Diego are actually schoolmates at OB Montessori Greenhills but added quickly that they are not acquainted with each other yet. “Hindi po [kami] magkakilala, nakikita ko lang po sa school [pero] sana makilala ko siya sa Mara Clara,” Kathryn said. She said that Diego, 15, is currently in second year high school.

The young actress also related that when Diego transferred to their school from Australia, there was a commotion because her classmates were curious about him. “Sabi nila, ‘May new student, ‘yung anak daw ni ganyan-ganyan.’ Tapos nagkagulo po ‘yung mga kaklase ko,” she shared.

Diego will supposedly play the role that was previously portrayed by Rico Yan before in the originalMara Clara and Kathryn is hoping to be friends with him in the future.

On the other hand, Diego said in his recent contract-signing that he is already gearing up for his upcoming acting project, but clarified that he will still continue his studies. He explained that he is taking advantage of the nearing school break because his parents made it clear to him that school is his priority.

With showbiz in his blood, Diego said that he is aware that his father is a highly respected personality in showbiz and hopes to make him proud someday. “I want to be able to say [that] the dedication that my dad put into his work po, I want to be able to put dedication in too. I want to be able to show him that I can do it also.” He added that he does not mind if people refer to him as Cesar Montano’s son and said that he sees it as an advantage.

However, he said that he is still getting used to his newfound celebrity status because he grew up in Australia not knowing that his parents were celebrities. “I’m still getting used to it ‘cause like I said, in Australia I’m just normal and here naman when people see me they don’t recognize me agad so it’s okay naman po.”  He admitted that there is pressure when you have celebs as parents but he said that he intends to make his folks proud.

From schoolmates to workmates: Kathryn Bernardo, Diego Loyzaga

“Mara Clara” lead star Kathryn Bernardo is looking forward to working with ABS-CBN’s newest talent and former schoolmate Diego Loyzaga in the top rating series.

In an interview with Push.com.ph, Bernardo disclosed that she and Loyzaga were actually schoolmates back in OB Montessori Greenhills.

Bernardo related how she first knew of Loyzaga, who happened to be Cesar Montano and Teresa Loyzaga’s son, when they were still in school.

“Sabi nila (schoolmates), ‘May new student (Loyzaga), ‘yung anak daw ni ganyan-ganyan.’ Tapos nagkagulo po ‘yung mga kaklase ko,”

Although they don’t personally know each other yet, the young drama actress is excited to finally be friends with the newbie actor.

“Hindi po [kami] magkakilala, nakikita ko lang po sa school [pero] sana makilala ko siya sa Mara Clara,” said Bernardo.

Loyzaga revealed during his contract signing on Tuesday that he will be joining the network’s top rating series “Mara Clara.”

According to reports, Diego will portray the role played the late Rico Yan in the original series.

Showbiz newbie Carlos Diego Loyzaga joins ‘Mara Clara’

Carlos Diego Loyzaga, the son of Cesar Montano and Teresa Loyzaga, inked a three-year contract with ABS-CBN yesterday night, March 8, and his first project will be Mara Clara. The 15-year-old lad said that he is excited already to team up with Julia Montes, who plays Clara in the top-rating teleserye. Asked what Julia’s reaction was when they met, Diego joked, “She was happy that I’m taller.” Julia’s current onscreen partner, John Manalo (who plays Eris) is shorter than Julia. He continued that his conversation with Julia was short and pleasant.

He said that he is doing the necessary preparations for Mara Clara by taking acting workshops. He also added going into showbiz was his personal choice. “I enjoy acting po. At school, we have theater po, I really enjoy being part of it. That’s one of the reasons, besides my parents po, that I want to try if I am capable of being what they have achieved.”

Diego said that his contract with ABS-CBN is “organized” since he still goes to school. “They’ll be scheduling times when I can work and not work because of my school, so it’s very timed and organized po,” he said. He went on to say that the condition that his parents gave him in joining showbiz is that he will still prioritize his education.

Asked how it feels to be a new addition to the Kapamilya network, Diego said, “Terrific po, it feels really good po. I feel very welcome po, (people are) so nice and kind to me po and I’m very happy here po.”

Diego also revealed how he was able to convince his father to allow him to join showbiz. “I promises to him po if I join showbiz, school comes first. That was my promise to him and he’s really focused on me having good education that’s why I promised him if I join showbiz, school comes first.”

He shared that his mom and his dad oftentimes remind him that he should practice strict discipline now that he is part of showbiz. Diego also added that his mom Teresa often tells him that having a girlfriend should be set aside so that he can focus on his schooling and work.
